Right from the start of level 1 it will have 19 AC (10 + 5 dex + 1 natural armor + 1 small size + 2 armor bonus leather barding). Animal companions with multiple starting attacks, like the Bear's two claws, or the Smilodon's 5 attacks do not get more attacks as their Base Attack rises. I will definitely remember. Ranger get is pet at lvl 4. None of the mounts comes even close to what Horse provides. You get a pet that does good damage and trip too. Last edited by Orange; Jul 18, 2019 @ 8:31am #1. Leopard is absurd because it gets free trip on bite and can qualify for fury's fall at level 1 as a bully which makes it's trip bonus absurd. pair it with a good weapon, i recommend greataxe of rovagug (whichever one has best crit) and take one level dip in loremaster for improved improved critical to get it to 15-20 crit range. I was about to write a rant-y post about how part of the mythic path's features shouldn't be locked behind a creature that could die permanently.
